Health sciences are applied sciences that address the use of science, technology, engineering or mathematics for healthcare delivery to humans, whereas life sciences are the branches of science that involve the scientific study of life: microorganisms, plants, animals and human beings. Health sciences encompass areas such as medicine, including medical specialties such as cardiology, oncology, pathology, as well as nursing, dentistry, healthcare administration, pharmaceutical science, medical devices etc. Life sciences are, essentially, the study of living organisms and life processes and can focus on a specific type of organism (e.g. zoology), or on aspects that are common to all or most life forms (e.g. anatomy and genetics), or aspects that focus on understanding the mind (neuroscience). |
